"I have a dream." Oops. Wrong speech. Actually, I HAD a dream and the dream nudged me to get involved with a
bunch of folks who were eager to learn more about integral theory and
practice. Now, 14 meetings later, your editor is at the helm of this
group, doing what I can to help anchor an integral system in Sedona --
and, eventually, help it spread like wildfire to other communities...

Most of you know that I have been a fan of all things integral for many years now, especially Ken Wilber's version. What, exactly, is integral? How did it evolve? What does it have to do
with our daily activities and spiritual practices?

| The Practice Of Integral Business
|
|
| posted on Monday, February 18, 2008
|
|
I just finished uploading a four-part presentation on "The Practice Of Integral Business" to the Integral NHNE website.
This discussion features Tami Simon, founder of Sounds True, and Ken
Wilber. While the focus of this presentation is on creating "integral
business models", almost everything they talk about can also be applied
to other environments (family, community, non-profits, etc.). I
encourage all of you to listen in...

Many of you know that the integral movement -- a movement that was
largely defined and initiated by Ken Wilber -- is presently going
viral. A growing number of people all over the world are not only
becoming passionately interested in what Wilber (and other integral
thinkers/practitioners) are saying and doing, but spontaneous study
groups are also popping up around the world. Meetup currently lists
3,156 members of 58 Ken Wilber Meetup Groups in 53 Cities, in 11
Countries... One of those groups recently popped up in Sedona, Arizona -- where I live

| An Integral Perspective On Barack Obama
|
|
| posted on Tuesday, January 08, 2008
|
|
Probably more so than any other presidential candidate, Obama offers a
way to transcend several dualisms and dichotomies: liberal v.
conservative; atheist v. fundamentalist; black v. white; Christian v.
Muslim. Whether or not he can make good on this potential remains to be
seen, but presidential elections are always a gamble, no matter who you
vote for. So, as it stands now, Obama has my vote if he gets the
nomination, because he holds the most promise of being an "integral
leader."

| Ken Wilber On 'Guru Yoga' In Modern Times
|
|
| posted on Friday, December 07, 2007
|
|
For thousands of years the tradition of Guru Yoga, or unconditionally
submitting yourself to a spiritual teacher, has been a remarkably
effective method of helping dislodge people from the confines of
chronic self-contraction. However, the practice of surrendering to a
Guru has largely been seen as anathema to the modern West, mostly due
to the strong cultural currents of rational individualism and
postmodern egalitarianism -- in this sense, traditional Guru Yoga is a
full two epochs behind, and shows little sign of catching up. How can
we begin to reconceptualize the Guru in order to survive in the modern
and postmodern worlds, helping to craft a new form of "Spirit in
2nd-person" for the 21st Century?
