    Scientology Fights Critics With 4,000 DMCA Takedown Notices

    A huge trove of critical videos of Scientology was targeted for takedown late last week by a group called American Rights Counsel. The group sent more than 4,000 DMCA takedown notices to YouTube and claimed that every video infringed on its copyrights, according to the EFF.

    Tom Cruise went back to where his run of negative publicity began: On a couch, next to Oprah Winfrey. But unlike his couch-jumping appearance on Winfrey's show three years ago, this time Cruise was serious, thoughtful and tried to defend his personal beliefs without seeming overbearing during an hourlong interview broadcast Friday.

    Nightline: Ex-Scientology Kids Share Their Stories

    Cruise is a vocal supporter and close friend of Scientology's worldwide leader, David Miscavige, who took over the reins of power when science fiction author and founder L. Ron Hubbard died in 1986. Miscavige says Scientology can offer its followers greater ability in all areas of life, rid people of negativity, and make them "clear." But some former members of the Sea Organization, or Sea Org (Scientology's version of clergy -- the group of people who essentially run the church), including a niece of Miscavige, see another side to the religion. They spoke to "Nightline" about how they became increasingly disillusioned with the Church of Scientology, until they decided it was time to leave.

    Church Of Scientology Warns Wikileaks Over Leaked Documents

    Wikinews has learned that The Church of Scientology has warned the documents leaking site Wikileaks.org that they are in violation of United States copyright laws after they published several documents related to the Church (click here to download them). Wikileaks has no intentions of complying, and states that in response, they intend to publish thousands of Scientology documents next week.

    Anonymous Activists Gaining Strength Online

    Masked protesters led small, peaceful rallies in cities around the world Saturday as part of a protest by an online movement calling itself Anonymous. The organization declared "war" on the Church of Scientology in January because of the church's "suppression of dissent" on the Internet.
